What’s Working/What Needs Work 2.0

What’s working for our site:

  1. I still love our theme.  The stark black and white has really come across nicely and done exactly what we wanted: enhance the images.  Have the maroon accents look really nice as well, and I truly love it.
  2. The page layouts are really nice as well.  I like how we’ve organized our information and our images.  We had a bit of negative feedback on the image placement in the sidebar, but I still don’t think I want to add extra pictures within the text itself.  It would look cluttered, and there really would be no point in have the Flickr Gallery if we added the pictures to the text.
  3. Generally, I’m really enjoying how our analysis is coming through.  I was wary on how that would look within the website, but so far I enjoy it.

What needs work:

  1. Well, with the critique we had on our images, we need to make it clear to our users from the beginning that the images we are referring to will either show up on the Juxtapose slide or in our sidebar.
  2. We definitely need to edit our work and add more analysis to certain pages.  I need to edit the pages that I wrote, and Catherine will probably need to add more analysis to her pages seeing as she on;y referred to the Juxtapose images on Chi Omega.
  3. Our interviews need to be added (which Catherine is doing this week), and those will go on the connection page.

I think, so far, our project is panning out really nicely.  We don’t have much to add, just more polishing work than anything.  I thought this project was going to be more stressful than it has been, but it’s actually been kinda fun for me.  I enjoy setting things up like this and building upon them.  The Internet is fun to mess with.

And generally, think we will be more than ready for final presentations soon, once we’ve received the feedback from our draft and edited it accordingly.

  1. Hi, Ashlee. I think the additional analysis definitely enhances the strength of your website. The extra detail gives me, as your audience, a much better idea of what I am supposed to glean from visiting your site. I did still see a bit of editing to do. For example, there is an extra “each” in one of your sentences on your landing page; on the Alpha Phi Alpha page, the “photos are frowning,” and on Amnesty, “the curly har, though looks more natural than done” (than “styled?”). Also, don’t use an apostrophe with numbers: 1990s. (This is a common error on several websites). How are you going to incorporate your interviews? Every week I am seeing your website grow and improve! Dr. Brown
